Officer Justice, Tulsa Police Tulsa Police Officers assigned to the Uniform Division Southwest, located at 7515 Riverside Drive purchased a penguin by donating out of their own pocket. As time drew near and we were still a ways away from the amount needed, I was able to get donations from a few outside sources but all of them had police ties. Two of the donators are reserve officers that own their own business. One is a bank Vice-President. Another donator is the father of an officer that works here. I got some donations from a few officers at other divisions and all 4 of the Chiefs donated. |

If you know how hard it is to get officers to part with their hard earned money then you know what a task One is a bank Vice-President. Another donator is the father of an officer that works here. I got some donations from a few officers at other divisions and all 4 of the Chiefs donated. If you know how hard it is to get officers to part with their hard earned money then you know what a task this was. Once I had the money to purchase the penguin I had to find someone to paint it for free and donate the paint as well. I was able to get in contact with Monte Toon who works at channel 8 and he was gracious enough to paint it for free. Channel 8 did a story on it as he painted it. Then we had the task of getting it sprayed with the clear coat that protects it for free. I contacted an owner of a body shop and (you guessed it) he agreed to spray it for free. His name is Rudi with Corvette Specialties. He did a wonderful job. So, we are now waiting for the concrete to be poured and we will place our penguin in front of the Division on Riverside. Police Officers do care a tremendous amount for their department and their City in which they serve. I am very proud of them for making this contribution to the community. story by Captain Tracie Crocker
